The Fight

She sat, her face shattered with emotion
Body drooping with unspeakable fatigue
Another round of to and fro had ended
Missiles thrown, warheads launching
Ripping through the pretense of happy life
She hugged herself, drowning in tears
For just a few seconds, and then she stood
A brave smile plastered on her face
Ready to delude the world once more
Hidden, the child saw her, and thought
I have to take care of her, I want to see
The smile that was sunshine and gold
Not the smile of ashes nor the tears,
In that instant, the child was no more
